A very busy week!

The allotment has been a hive of activity this week. On Thursday we had a visit from the 'East Midlands in Bloom' judges, so we spent the beginning of the week making everything look spick and span. They picked a good day to come as the sun was shining and the allotment looked wonderful. It remains to be seen how well Oadby and Wigston do in the competition, but we hope we contributed to a good score. There's a lot to live up to, as the borough won GOLD last year, and represented the East Midlands in the nationwide Britain in Bloom competition.

The busy week didn't end there, as Friday was Muddy Boots day again. Despite the rain lots of families still came to take part in mud painting and clay sculpture, with a great (if rather damp) time had by all. It's not called Muddy Boots for nothing!

On Saturday we had a return visit from the local Wildlife Watch group. They first visited in February on a bitterly cold but sunny day, and they picked another good day this time. They enjoyed harvesting and eating peas and broad beans, and found lots of wildlife on the plot, including some baby newts. Take a look at the photos on the photos page.
